About PartyHost
PartyHost exists because hosts under-buy ice and over-buy appetizers — every single time.
Party quantities follow catering-industry rules of thumb that most hosts have never seen: appetizer pieces per guest per hour, the 2-plus-1 drink curve, half-pound proteins, and the ice rule (1.5 pounds per guest, for drinks AND cooling). The calculators encode them.
Two tools cover the classic decisions: the food-and-ice planner (cocktail party vs dinner) and the drink counter with its standard split.
We are hosts and educators, not a caterer. Nothing here sells platters, and the math runs in your browser.
What makes PartyHost different
- Your numbers never leave your browser. Every calculator on PartyHost runs entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the figures you enter — there are no accounts and no server-side processing of your inputs.
- Published methodology. Each calculator page explains the exact formula it uses and the assumptions behind it, so you can check our work or reproduce it in a spreadsheet.
- Free, forever, without a paywall. PartyHost is supported by advertising. There is no premium tier, no email gate, and no upsell.
Independence
PartyHost is an independent educational project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency, lender, insurer, or the organizations whose formulas and public data we reference (such as catering-industry standard quantity planning).
